Earlier this year, our Source teen, Alex, got to star as the leading role in a short movie - The Bear Hunt - a beautiful production that was led by disabled storytellers and creatives who recognise that our differences are not something to fix, but are something to celebrate. ⁠
⁠
We are so proud!! Alex is mainly non-speaking in the way she communicates - and the film makers portrayed this in such an honest and authentic way. The film is not available to view by the public (yet!) but we’ve just heard that it has been accepted for consideration for Best Short Film in the 2026 AACTA Awards!⁠

If there are any AACTA members in our wonderful community, short film viewing is open now on AACTA TV and Round 1 voting opens soon!⁠
⁠
To view and vote for The Bear Hunt, you will need to be logged into your AACTA TV account and hold voting rights. Non members will only be able to see the poster and synopsis.⁠
⁠
Whether or not you’re a member, one way you can help is by sharing the news with any AACTA members you know and those working in the screen industry who are eligible to vote. ⁠
