Aruma supports kids to learn and grow
As one of Australia’s leading disability support organisations, Aruma proudly supports 500 children and teenagers with a disability, across Queensland, NSW, ACT and Victoria.
They offer a range of supports so young people can learn new skills, stay safe, and build confidence. They also help take the pressure off families through services like short-term accommodation and community participation.
Here’s a snapshot of the services Aruma offers:
Early Childhood Intervention: This type of intervention is for kids aged 0 to 7 who have a developmental delay, which is when a child takes a bit longer to reach milestones such as moving, learning or talking. Aruma can help improve a child’s development through a range of services, which can result in huge improvements and often means the child will start school with little or no extra support.
Behaviour Support: Aruma’s dedicated team of practitioners will work with you to find out why a child with a disability may be displaying behaviours of concern such as emotional outbursts, challenging or unsafe behaviours, or avoidance. They will then support you with solutions on how to manage these behaviours.
Occupational Therapy (OT): OTs help children with a disability to be as independent as possible. This may mean learning new skills or finding new ways of doing everyday activities.
Short-term accommodation (STA): Aruma’s STA properties are a home away from home for your child! A short-term stay with us gives your child the chance to meet new people, try new things and gain more independence. STA means you can get some time to unwind too.
Social and community participation: There are so many ways for your child to meet other kids, try new things and most importantly – have fun! And the best part is they can take part in the comfort of their own home, or out in the local area.
