Finding their happily ever after
By Andrea Viney
We all want our children to be happy and find a love, just like Justin and Jo. This beautiful couple are as happy as the day they met, and the sparks are still flying, 22 years later. Happy Valentine’s Day – enjoy this love story from Down Syndrome Queensland.
When Justin and Jo met at a ‘Latch-On’ class after finishing high school, it was love at first sight. Jo recalls that she found Justin ‘cute’ when they first met, and it wasn’t long before they began dating. Their first night out together was a romantic dinner where they spent the night talking and enjoying each other’s company. Both quickly deciding they had found ‘the one’, they began their new life together, and the rest as they say, is history.
Justin and Jo were married in March, 2020. The wedding was a beautiful celebration of joy and true love, with family and friends witnessing the couple exchange their vows.
It’s been more than two decades since the two met, but the spark is alive and bright. Justin still loves to surprise Jo with flowers and take her out to dinner and they both love a candlelit picnic. A typical date night is going to dinner at a local hotel, followed by a movie, or enjoying time with friends.
Their secret to a successful marriage and advice to other couples is to have a deep understanding of one another and place strong importance on clear communication. Regularly making time to spend together, Justin and Jo also think it’s important that couples don’t forget to have fun!
Sage advice for every couple out there.
Happy Valentine’s Day and we wish Jo and Justin an abundance of love and happiness in the future.
