Northcott and Montrose to join forces
By REBEKAH DEVLIN
Disability service providers Northcott and Montrose have announced plans to merge, saying it will enhance support and therapy options for young people with disability.
Montrose, which has centres across South East Queensland, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northcott from July 1.
The two organisations say the partnership will ensure existing Montrose customers continue to receive high quality services and supports, as well as providing opportunities for new services to be made available over time.
Montrose therapists and support workers will continue to provide services under the Montrose name from the existing facilities.
Northcott already provides services to more than 15,500 people with disability, their families and carers each year from metropolitan and regional locations throughout NSW and the ACT.
“I’m very excited to welcome Montrose customers and staff to the Northcott family,” says Northcott CEO, Liz Forsyth.
“There is so much shared values and history between our organisations. Montrose has a strong track record of supporting children and young people with a disability to achieve their goals and live the lives they choose. With a shared vision and collectively 180 years of clinical expertise, scale and range of services, we are very well placed to support the future success of Montrose.”
Montrose CEO Kerrie Mahon says the merger will provide opportunities for the service to “significantly grow” in Queensland.
“Montrose and Northcott deeply value people with disability,” she says. “We are proud to be a place where people can come and be looked after. In coming together, we aim to continue our important work for Montrose clients and to significantly grow the support Montrose provides for Queenslanders living with disability.”
Rotary started both organisations more than 90 years ago, to help children during the polio epidemic. Montrose was known as the Queensland Society for Crippled Children and Northcott as the NSW Society for Crippled Children.
