Your guide to telehealth and how it can help your child
In association with LiveBig
At LiveBig, we believe that no child should miss out when it comes to meeting their goals. We are a specialist allied health and assessment service provider for people with disability. We aim to help you achieve your goals so that your child can reach their full potential. We do this by simplifying access to our services and work with you and your child to develop a personalised plan to attaint identified goals. We conduct a range of assessments and deliver individual and group therapy sessions and can support you with providing information to the NDIS on your child’s progress towards their goals. LiveBig offers a range of specialised allied health services via telehealth and in person to support your child’s individual needs including psychology, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, speech pathology, and physiotherapy.
What is Telehealth and how will it benefit my child?
More relaxed settings for you and your child
Telehealth means that your child can receive therapy from the comfort of your own home. It is an alternative way for children and their carer (where applicable) to meet their therapist using digital devices such as computers and mobile phones. This can often be a better experience for the child as it alleviates the stress of having to wait in a clinic or someone visiting your home. With a more relaxed and comfortable setting, our therapist can focus on what is important – working towards your child’s goals and improving therapy outcomes.
Fun and engaging interactive online learning
Our interactive therapy provides access to different links and screens to work through at their own pace. This makes telehealth appointments fun and engaging for everyone! When a child feels more relaxed and comfortable it allows our therapist to focus on what is important – working towards their goals and improving therapy outcomes.
More access to quality services
At LiveBig, your location does not impact the services we can offer your child. Our telehealth services remove travel as a factor meaning treatment can occur from any location. This makes our service more accessible to everyone and enables your child access to our quality services regardless of your location through video conferencing.
To ensure our telehealth services are accessible to all our clients we offer tablet devices for those that need it. By offering our services online we can continue to support your child’s individual needs and work together to achieve their goals from the comfort and safety of your home.
Reduced wait times and appointment flexibility:
We can usually book telehealth appointment quicker than face to face appointments, resulting in less wait time and more flexibility for you. We can accommodate the time needs of you and your child with earlier and later appointments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is telehealth as effective as face to face?
- Yes, telehealth can be as equally effective as face to face services, given the child receiving the service is able to effectively participate in the session, they have access to a suitable device and internet and the type of assessment/intervention can be delivered remotely.
What if I’m not sure about the suitability of telehealth for me/my family member or my client?
- Our therapist will assess suitability for telehealth at the initial consultation and inform you if telehealth is possible for the assessment type and/or intervention required to meet desired goals. If you identify the barrier to telehealth is availability of a suitable mobile device, LiveBig can provide one for your child for the period of engagement.
Will telehealth cost more?
- No, our fees and charges are the same, regardless of the method of engagement, and are in line with the NDIS Price guide. In fact, receiving services via telehealth does not require a therapist traveling to your home – meaning more hours left on the plan to spend on intervention and consultation with our therapist/s.
What if I don’t have suitable technology to engage my therapist?
- You can use your NDIS funding to purchase a table that can assist you in connecting with us. Our therapist can provide you with a support letter to assist you with your application to the NDIA. Alternatively, we may be able to assist with providing you a mobile tablet, give us a call to check availability.
